August 15 is the deadline for the world-famous, exciting “Query Letter You’d Love to Send” contest. Write the query letter you’d love to write but would never send — for example, a query for Dog Fancy about 10 ways cats rock out over dogs, or a query for Ms. magazine on how to make your floors sparkle. Make up sources, make up quotes. Make us laugh! We’ll post our favorite three here on the blog and let you vote for your favorite. Last night my husband and I dined at a local restaurant where we were treated to a most delightful meal. We sent our compliments to the chef, who is, amazingly, still in high school! Oddly, his co-workers were baffled by our enthusiasm, especially for the main course. Indeed, the restaurant manager became quite beligerent when we begged him for the recipe for the sauce on the burger. He said it was a “secret sauce” and an “industry secret.”
So we’re writing to you, figuring that if anyone could weasel out this recipe, it would be you! We can’t remember the name of the entree, but it was two all beef patties, the special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions on a sesame seed bun.
