More Student Kudos!
A pair of students in my last 8-week e-course on breaking into magazines, Wayne and Treba Thompson, wrote a killer query that was accepted by Blue Water Sailing magazine! Their query had a lot of style, with clever use of nautical terms, sharp language, and great quotes from impressive experts. Not to mention that their idea was a winner.
Seeing as how they sent in their query maybe a week ago, this is the fastest acceptance I’ve ever seen from a query created in the course. Congrats, Wayne and Treba, and may you sail through your careers as freelance writers!
Wayne and Treba also offered this testimonial:
If you want to be a freelance journalist, talk to Linda Formichelli. Her eight week course on getting published showed us how to write a query letter that editors will read. Her individual coaching and advice was priceless. Nothing shouts louder than success — the query that we produced during the course brought a strong response from the editor of a national magazine.
My next session starts on July 30, and is likely to be the last one I offer this year as I’m doing a lot of traveling this fall. Be there or be square! [lf]
