New Renegade Look & Features
The Renegade Writer website has a new look — and new features for writers! We’re thrilled with the renegade broken pencil links and other work done by Reese at Design by Reese. Here are our new features, all of which are accesible via the new links above:
The Renegade Writer Markets Wiki. According to Wikipedia, which is a wiki, a wiki is a collaborative website which can be directly edited by anyone with access to it. (Yes, we like the word wiki. Wiki, wiki, wiki.) The Renegade Writer Markets Wiki is a place to share and read information about magazine markets for freelance writers. You have to register to add and edit pages, but it’s free and easy.
E-Courses for Writers. As you probably know because I post about it all the dang time, I offer an 8-week e-course on breaking into magazines. Many of my students ask if I know of other courses on X, Y, or Z — so Diana and I rounded up some highly successful freelancers to offer courses through the site on food writing, travel writing, writing for trades, writing for women’s markets, magazine writing basics, and book proposals. All of the courses start in early 2008. Please check them out now and show our new instructors some love (y’know, by signing up for their courses)!
Queries That Rocked. In our book, The Renegade Writer’s Query Letters That Rock, Diana and I asked editors to nominate queries that knocked their socks off, and interviewed the writers and the assigning editors. We plan to continue this project on the Renegade Writer website. Our first Query That Rocked landed an assignment at Health magazine. If you know of any editors who you think might like to nominate a query for this feature, please e-mail us at questions [at] therenegadewriter [dot] com and we’ll contact them.
E-Books and Workshops. Right now my two e-books for writers are up there, and in the future Diana and I plan to create video workshops that will help you make more money as a freelance writer.
What do you think of our redesign and new features? Please tell us in the Comments section! [lf]
