All about RSS feeds

Dustin over at the Writer’s Technology Companion has posted a good overview of RSS feeds today (stands for “Really Simple Syndication”) in honor of RSS Appreciation Day. And boy, do I appreciate RSS feeds, both as a reader and a blogger. I meet a lot of people who have no idea about places like Bloglines and Google Reader; when I tell them they can read their blogs all on one page, they’re amazed. Since I subscribe to over 100 blogs, it would take me hours to visit every blog personally. Feeds are a huge timesaver for me!

We publish feeds for blog posts and for comments. So if you’re fuzzy on how RSS and blog feeds work, read Dustin’s article, set up a feed reader account, and subscribe to our blog. Have a great weekend! [db]

I’ve been using RSS feeds for about six months now, and I find them very helpful. I subscribed to news feeds as well as county department feeds so I can keep up with breaking news and announcements that might be parlayed into stories for my paper. So far, I’ve been able to get about a dozen articles or mini-articles published thanks to the various RSS feeds, so I’m definitely appreciative!
